VIENNA, Austria – June 11, 2014 – Objective Development today announced the release of LaunchBar 6, a new major version of their popular OS X productivity tool.
The new version features a completely redesigned, themeable user interface, extensibility via custom, script–based actions, live action results such as Google suggestions or Calendar input feedback, new indexing rules like Emoji or Finder Tags, Info Browsing for accessing an item’s metadata and more.
The gorgeous new user interface has been redesigned from scratch. Users can choose their preferred appearance from a set of stunning built-in themes.
LaunchBar’s functionality can now be vastly extended with custom, script–based actions. Users can install actions written by other users or third party developers, or write their own actions in a variety of scripting languages such as AppleScript, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, PHP and more.
Web searches are now even more efficient with live suggestions. Many actions such as Calculator or Calendar input provide instant feedback for the entered query.
LaunchBar’s ever-growing set of indexing options has been further extended to index Finder Tags, Emoji, Reminders, Safari Reading List and Top Sites, iCloud Tabs and more.
The new Info Browsing functionality provides convenient access to any item’s metadata such as file size, image dimensions, disk capacity, Finder tags, browsable file contents, word counts and more.
LaunchBar is a smart and powerful productivity utility that provides lightning fast access to applications, documents, contacts and bookmarks, iTunes music, web searches and more, just by entering short abbreviations of the searched item’s name.
It’s an app and document launcher, a personal digital assistant, a powerful file manager, an efficient search tool, a clipboard and snippet manager, a jukebox, a calculator … or quite simply a tremendous time saver. Whatever you want to accomplish on your Mac – with LaunchBar it is only a few keystrokes away!
LaunchBar 6 requires OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later.
LaunchBar 6 is available today and can be downloaded from https://www.obdev.at/launchbar/download.html.
A single license is available for $29 (US).
Customers who have purchased LaunchBar after March 24, 2014 qualify for a free upgrade. LaunchBar 5 license owners are eligible for a discounted upgrade starting at $19 (US).
LaunchBar 6 can also be used completely free of charge. The full feature set is accessible even without registration – there’s just an occasional short delay of certain actions.
